Education Research Facility Seeks Customized Fire Suppression
The Weston Library, a key research facility at the UK’s University of Oxford, recently underwent a refurbishment to expand public access and create high-quality storage for the library’s collection of eight million books and 10,000 medieval manuscripts. The project also required an upgrade for the library’s security and fire protection systems.
This case study looks at why the library chose Johnson Controls’s AquaMist technology and how the design and construction of the system was implemented. AquaMist is ideal for applications where excessive water use could damage valuable assets and equipment, such as older buildings, libraries, and archives. It also provided the library with a fast and efficient fire protection solution capable to control even class A fires.
