The Shah Gas field, located within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, produces up to one billion cubic feet of gas, primarily used as feedstock for new power, desalination, and petrochemical plants. An integral part of plant operations is the distributed Public Address General Alarm (PAGA) system, which must be able to handle operational, prerecorded, and emergency broadcasts to technicians within all plant areas.

This case study looks at the selection of Johnson Controls to design, manufacture, and supply the PAGA system for the Shah Gas Complex. Scope of work required the distribution of both audio and data across a network with a larger than normal number of nodes. System control was incorporated at the Main Control Room using standard access terminals with status reporting. During the project, Johnson Controls solved challenges including working with multiple contractors, having to nearly double the number of nodes from the initial estimate, and staying within the deadline demands of the project.
