Transportation Solutions
Arriving at Solutions that Work

Every day, airport executives and staff meet the needs of a population the size of a city. They’re responsible for assuring the safety and comfort of passengers, tenants, employees and visitors. So, it’s critical that airport facilities operate at the highest levels of efficiency and reliability.

Johnson Controls provides technology solutions that improve passenger satisfaction and security, while enhancing business operations. We take a holistic approach and offer a single-point of responsibility for the design, integration and ongoing performance of all systems in an airport facility. That means we can make a bigger impact on first and lifecycle costs, and enhance the functional capabilities of airports around the globe.

Our Metasys® building automation system is the nerve center that integrates the technology. It connects everything from airport security, fire detection and ID access controls to flight visualization, check-in systems and baggage handling. It also tells HVAC systems to monitor comfort and lighting levels, addresses escalators and moving walkways – all while managing the systems that maximize energy efficiency.

Safe & Secure through Systems Integration

The number one priority for airports today is ensuring the safety and security of passengers and staff. Doing so requires an integrated security system that can serve the airport’s functional needs, as well as be ready for future requirements.

As master systems integrators supporting over 50,000 systems world-wide, we look at the big picture, not just products or proprietary systems. From consultation to installation, our decades of expertise in security technology simplifies the integration process, no matter if you’re installing a new security system or connecting legacy technology.

Our life safety systems include access control, fire detection and alarm, video surveillance and network controllers. And our unique network of technology partners enables us to provide the most comprehensive security and fire solutions in the industry.  Johnson Controls also can develop a service program, built on a combination of predictive and preventive maintenance services that addresses the specific security and safety requirements of airports. So, while you maximize the return on your security system investment, you'll also minimize the safety risks in your facility.

By integrating the security system, fire alarm system, lighting controls and other airport specialty systems with a Metasys® building automation system, airport personnel are able to monitor and control the systems from a central location, increasing airport efficiency.
Airports worldwide are focused on achieving increased comfort, safety and security while reducing costs.
Combining New and Old
Bogota, Colombia’s El Dorado International Airport is Latin America’s largest and most modern air transit facility. Since opening in the 1950s, the airport has undergone numerous renovations and expansions. Johnson Controls worked with a strategic partner to install and integrate new, efficient systems in the newest terminal – and provide onsite building automation, fire and security system maintenance to assure quality and continuity.
