Creating healthier learning spaces with technology at the forefront
School leaders can stretch their investment dollars and create a more sustainable program for the next generation by developing a multiphase implementation plan.

The standard for infrastructure enhancements is evolving and school districts are now aligning their overall objectives with the integration of technology improvements. The goals vary depending on the facility’s short and long-term needs, the technology to achieve the desired results, and available financing and delivery models, but early alignment on these objectives can help prioritize spending needs and control costs.
The September 2023 issue of School Business Affairs, published by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), featured an article authored by Cheryl Aquadro, K–12 vertical market director for Johnson Controls. In “Creating Healthier Learning Spaces with Technology at the Forefront”, Cheryl discusses the various funding models districts can utilize to improve operational performance of building systems and upgrade the learning and teaching environment while staying within budget.
