Business Roundtable Report Recognizes Johnson Controls for Leadership in Artificial Intelligence
In a recent Business Roundtable (BRT) report, Johnson Controls earned recognition for its leadership in developing and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) across various industries and sectors in a responsible and efficient manner.
The new report titled “AI Innovation at Work: Putting Principles into Practice,” is a follow-up to BRT’s 2022 report “Roadmap for Responsible AI (RAI),” which analyzed ten core principles businesses should follow when it comes to properly utilizing AI technology. The 2023 report names Johnson Controls one of 10 U.S. companies leading the way with AI.
AI is a powerful tool, and it must be deployed responsibly with safety, privacy and security as top priorities.
— Johnson Controls Chairman and CEO George Oliver
The report recognizes how Johnson Controls OpenBlue digital platform utilizes key AI tools, such as advanced machine learning to help Johnson Controls customers reach their net-zero carbon emissions goals. Through this advanced machine learning, the management of energy consumption becomes more efficient and simultaneously improves occupant productivity, all while maintaining an exceptional amount of privacy through Johnson Controls’ “privacy by design” principle implemented by the company’s Global Privacy Office.
Johnson Controls Chairman and CEO George Oliver spoke with BRT about the criticality of responsible AI, customer benefits that can come from leveraging AI, and the importance of efficient data collection.
“AI is a powerful tool, and it must be deployed responsibly with safety, privacy and security as top priorities,” Oliver said. “For [Johnson Controls], responsible AI means partnering with our customers to work on the outcomes they want in charting a path that ensures data is carefully collected, managed, acted upon, all with built-in deletion and retention schedules.”
