Susan Hughes is the vice president and president, Asia Pacific. In this role, she is responsible for strategy and execution in the region, focused on driving organic growth through expanding market share and enhancing customer outcomes.

She joined Johnson Controls in January 2026 after spending more than 20 years with Emerson in a variety of different leadership roles spanning Engineering, Marketing and Operations. She recently served as President of Asia Pacific for Emerson Automation Solutions, where she drove delivering sustained growth across diverse markets in the region, through commercial execution and lifecycle services.

Susan has lived and worked in many cities around the world and is conversant in both English and Mandarin Chinese. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in Math and Chinese from Grinnell College and an MBA degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
