Established in 1624, West London’s Latmyer School is a selective grammar school for boys and girls. The prestigious institution features many historic buildings and includes state-of-the-art technology, science, and specialist classrooms. To provide security and safeguard students, staff, and property, Latmyer needed a complete IP access control solution that could complement existing infrastructure.

This case study describes how the CEM AC2000 SE security management system provided the solution the school required. A complete IP system was installed, including the innovative CEM DIU 220 (Power over Ethernet Door Interface Units), CEM IP intelligent MiFare card readers, and MiFare smart cards. The resulting access control functionality has the benefit of not only protecting staff and students, but also helping to prevent threats of theft and vandalism. And the MiFare cards are a one-card identity solution, providing access control as well as school management options, such as cashless vending.
