Johnson Controls named a 2020 Environment & Energy Leader Project Award Winner
Johnson Controls has been named a 2020 E&E Leader Project Award winner for its comprehensive energy and enterprise management solution with Infosys in India.

Johnson Controls Enterprise Management Recognized
Johnson Controls has been named a 2020 E&E Leader Project Award winner for its comprehensive energy and enterprise management solution with Infosys in India. E&E Leader Awards are given to organizations who implement innovative sustainable solutions or develop innovative sustainable products in the fields of energy and environmental management.
“This is great recognition for Johnson Controls and our Enterprise Management solution by industry experts for its capabilities in delivering impactful and measurable results," said Alvin Ng, vice president digital solutions, APAC, Johnson Controls.
Infosys is the largest technology services company in India, with large campuses in more than 15 major cities throughout the country. They manage a portfolio of 200 buildings and a built-up area of 35 million square feet. Infosys used Johnson Controls Enterprise Management to receive advanced automated Fault Detection and Diagnostics along with integrated work orders take a more data-driven approach to improving efficiencies and optimizing operations across their largest campus with 15 buildings.

Using four applications from Enterprise Management, Infosys was able to:
- Validate nearly 1,000 faults in their BMS in the first three months of operation
- Detect 7,000 alarms every 15 minutes and share diagnostics
- Identify faulty zone temperature sensors and sources of water waste
- Utilize a water per capita dashboard to receive insights about occupant-based consumptions
To achieve their goal of consolidating the fault detection and diagnostics information for more actionable insights that help drives energy savings, Infosys implemented four of Johnson Controls Enterprise Management applications. Each application was chosen based on Infosys’ specific needs and included:
- Energy Management which allows the tracking, analysis and management of various types of energies as well as the ability to forecast energy usage in advance and adjust behavior accordingly.
- Data Visualization Widgets that puts the power to predict, prioritize, perform, analyze, manage, question and share firmly in the user’s hands.
- Financial Health & Utility Bill Management that allows users to track and manage each enterprise with a broad view of costs and returns related to utility consumption.
- Asset Performance & Maintenance Management that uses fault detection and diagnostics to put managers at the top of their data and generate/track work orders to ensure high-level equipment performance.
As a result of installing Enterprise Management, Infosys has been able to process and close 1,200 work orders. Through this project, Infosys also established a system for tracking consumption of energy-intensive equipment and now continuously monitors each building’s electrical consumption, electrical peak demand and water consumption. As a result, Infosys has achieved significant savings in total water consumption – 32,000 kL for 2019 – for the Phase 2 campus and captured trends in peak demand values for each building. Overall, through the increased availability of information, energy management teams can qualitatively understand their system’s behaviors and thus close the loop between identification – logging – solution.
Due to the sheer volume of operations, managing individual campuses with only a BMS is not efficient, especially with nearly 450 different ADM vendors – 300 of which are OEMs. With Johnson Controls Enterprise Management, Infosys was able to seamlessly integrate their disparate building systems with Enterprise Management’s BAS agnostic applications and take a more systematic approach to building management. Through this integration, Infosys is working more collaboratively across teams and utilizing the intuitive, artificial intelligence and machine learning FDD engine to support their teams as needed. Additionally, Infosys’ Green Initiatives program is able to leverage easily digestible building data, received through analytics such as baseline tracking, forecasting and zone wise energy distribution trends, to arrive at actionable insights for saving money and streamlining operations.
