Appreciating our employee volunteers

Johnson Controls values our position as a strong corporate citizen just as highly as we value our position as a market leader with our products and services. Through global volunteerism and philanthropy, Johnson Controls helps build safe, smart and sustainable communities where our employees live and work.

We utilize this rich culture of community involvement to ensure we are world class in our social measures, and this in turn, drives our high-performance culture and leads to exceptional customer outcomes as we build stronger communities. In the last three years, employees have given more than 100,000 hours to volunteer service.

“Our employees are out in the community—giving of their time to shelters, schools, environmental organizations—all year long,” said Annemarie Scobey-Polacheck, director of Corporate Philanthropy. “On National Volunteer Day, we take a moment to thank and appreciate these employees, many of whom have pivoted to virtual volunteerism during the pandemic.”

"WeGive and our Community Leadership Program are two ways we, as a company, support their volunteer commitments to making these communities safe, smart and sustainable."

— Grady Crosby, vice president Public Affairs, chief diversity officer, and Johnson Controls Foundation president

WeGive is Johnson Controls’ signature global volunteer program that ties corporate philanthropy to eligible organizations where our employees volunteer. When employees volunteer and track time in MyGiving, a corporate contribution of $10 USD per hour is sent to eligible organizations, upon approval.

Johnson Controls also encourages volunteer board service to non-profit organizations through its Community Leadership Program. Employees globally give of their professional expertise by serving on local boards in their communities. Organizations that most align with Johnson Controls philanthropic strategy may then receive additional philanthropic support from the company through grants or sponsorships.

“Johnson Controls knows our employees are the subject matter experts in the needs of the communities where they live and work, globally,” said Grady Crosby, vice president Public Affairs, chief diversity officer, and Johnson Controls Foundation president. “WeGive and our Community Leadership Program are two ways we, as a company, support their volunteer commitments to making these communities safe, smart and sustainable.”
